Description

Druid Stone was started in 2011 by Demeter Capsalis, while she was in highschool. Demeter had been playing in a punk band called the Puke Mutes, and after her writing of the song "Druid Stone", the band decided to shift gears and follow the darker sound. Druid Stone went on a decade long hiatus, while Demeter worked on other music projects. Nearly every release is produced in Demeter's basement studio, Necrofuzz, with a handful of recent works being handled by Mike Weitmann Studios in Fairfax. Everything this band does is no-budget, and a lot of what this band does is lo-fi. Demeter is huge into DIYing as much as possible for the band, as she believes signing to any major label would make her a lapdog of the industry. Almost all recorded parts are performed by Demeter, as Druid Stone is really her project. She's had a long list of performers in her live bands, as the amount of soul that Druid Stone performances require can be incredibly taxxing. The live band is always a three piece, with herself on vocals and guitar, a bassist, and a drummer. Demeter is a Peavey collector, so blistering amps from a bygone era are common. C# standard is the tuning of choice, as Demeter is a giganerd about Sabbath. If you get a chance to see them live, do it. It will shake your soul, and wake up pieces of yourself you thought were grave-bound long ago. The recorded performances are, in Demeter's description, the best approximation possible of the live version. Bring earplugs, stand up front, and cry as much as you want. Dance like a skeleton jostled from the casket.
